Read your analytics

Which of your pages AI assistants read, how often, and why.

Connect your site

Analytics shows which pages of your site AI assistants read. It needs your site's request logs. Until you connect, the page shows a sample dashboard.

  1. Open Analytics and click Connect your site.
  2. Pick where your site runs, then pick a method.
  3. Follow the steps. Each one shows the exact values to copy.

While the window is open, ByDefault visits your site the way an AI assistant would. The last step turns green as soon as your connection reports that visit.

Vercel

Log Drains need the Pro plan or above. Middleware works on any plan, static sites included.

Cloudflare

The Analytics API needs no code, a Worker works on any plan, and Logpush is for Enterprise plans.

Manual setup

Your own server sends its request logs to ByDefault, up to 1,000 events per request.

Later, the plug icon by the date picker reopens the setup.

Citations and activity

On this page, a citation is any request an AI tool makes to your site. ByDefault tracks OpenAI, Claude, Perplexity, Cursor, OpenCode, Meta and Mistral.

The Citations card shows the total for your date range and its change. Below it, providers rank by citations. Click the row under the top five to see the rest.

The Citation activity chart plots citations over time. Pick providers in its menu to draw a line for each. Click any day to see it hour by hour, in your local time, with a count for each bot.

Cited pages

One row per page AI tools requested. Click a row to open that page.

Narrow the list with Filter by page…, the providers menu and the request types menu. Picked providers show only pages every one of them requested. Picked request types make every number count only those types. Sort by Citations, Change or Last cited.

Each request has one of four purposes:

  • Cited in answer: an assistant fetched the page live while answering someone.
  • Search index: a crawler added the page to an AI search index, so it can show up as a cited link.
  • Model training: a crawler stored the page as training data for future models.
  • Cited in coding agent: a coding agent like Cursor opened the page in someone's editor.

A page's details show Training data and Indexed, which turn green when those crawls happened in your date range. Below sit How AI uses this page and its Citation log.

Recent citations lists every request with its provider, path, purpose and country. New rows arrive live. Click Pause live updates to hold the list still while you read.

Dates and updates

Pick Last 24 hours, 7, 14, 30 or 90 days, or your own dates. Last 30 days is the default, and your pick follows you to the other dashboards. Last 24 hours shows hours, longer ranges show days.

New visits show up as they arrive and the counters tick up live. Today reads "Today so far" and its line is dashed. The change compares your complete days against the same number of days just before, so a half-finished today never looks like a drop.

Troubleshooting

Cursor and OpenCode say Not trackable

These tools don't name themselves like other AI tools, and Vercel Log Drains, Cloudflare's Analytics API, Logpush and manual setup miss the details that give them away. Switch to Vercel Middleware or a Cloudflare Worker to see them.

Setup says it can't reach my site

The last step needs your site to answer ByDefault's test visit with a 200. If it answers with another status or times out, check that your site is live at that address.

I'm connected but every number is zero

Your connection works, but no AI assistant has read your site yet. Pages appear here as soon as one does.

I connected Cloudflare and nothing shows up

Cloudflare reports visits a few minutes late. ByDefault checks every minute, so you can close the window.
